bScaler Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how the bScaler browser extension (“bScaler”, “the extension”) handles information. bScaler is a free Google Chrome extension published by Bury Associates Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”), a land and measured building surveying company registered in England & Wales (company number 03365455), registered office Suite 4, Cadbury House, Blackpole East, Worcester, WR3 8SG.

The short version

bScaler does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. It runs entirely on your own computer inside your Chrome browser. The PDF drawings you open, and any measurements or mark-up you add, never leave your device. There are no user accounts, no logins, no analytics and no tracking.

Information we collect

None. bScaler does not collect any personal information or usage data of any kind. We do not gather names, email addresses, IP addresses, location data, device identifiers, analytics or telemetry.

How your files and measurements are handled

When you open a PDF in bScaler, that file is processed locally within your browser’s memory only. It is never uploaded to us or to any third party. Any measurements, annotations or marked-up PDFs you create are held only on your own computer, and exported files are saved directly to your device using Chrome’s normal download function. When you close or reload the bScaler tab, your in-progress measurements are cleared from memory.

Browser permissions

bScaler requests no special browser permissions. It does not request access to your browsing history, your data on websites, your bookmarks, your location, your camera or microphone, or any other sensitive information. Clicking the bScaler toolbar icon simply opens the bScaler tool in a new browser tab.

Cookies, analytics and tracking

bScaler uses no cookies and contains no analytics, advertising or tracking technologies. We do not profile you and we cannot see how you use the extension.

Network activity and third parties

bScaler works entirely offline within your browser. All of its program code and supporting libraries are bundled inside the extension, so it does not contact any external server in order to function. The only time your browser will connect to an external website is if you choose to click a link inside the extension (for example the “Help & user guide” link or our website address in the About panel), which opens that page in a new tab – this is ordinary web browsing that you initiate.

Sharing and selling of data

We do not sell, rent, trade or share any data, because we do not collect any. bScaler’s use and handling of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Children

bScaler is a professional tool intended for use by surveyors, architects, contractors and other property professionals. It is not directed at children, and it collects no information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
