3D Survey of St Peter's Church, Rous Lench

St Peters Church Rous Lench
St Peter's Church, Rous Lench, Worcestershire

Client: Poole Phillips Associates

Project Background

St. Peter’s Church, in the Worcestershire village of Rous Lench, is of Norman construction, with late Victorian additions, although there has probably been a church on the same site since the 9th century. The building is particularly noted for its elaborately carved 12th century south entrance.

Plans are underway to carry out repairs and make enhancements to some of the internal facilities so the building can better serve the local community.

Project Overview

This Grade 1 listed building is suffering from dry rot so the Church PCC commissioned Bury Associates to provide a 3D survey and 360 Panoramic video tour. These deliverables provided a detailed visual inspection so that the cause could be identified without the expense of scaffolding. With this evidence, the Church PCC made a rapid application for a Covid-19 heritage grant of up to £30,000 for emergency work and they have reached round 2 of this application. Funds are also being raised for other necessary works to be carried out. In addition, Poole Phillips Associates have been able to share the tour video with contractors who can price the repair work.

Poole Phillips Associates will now commission a 3D ContextCapture model and 360 Panoramic Tour as standard for every project of a similar nature
